The Research Capacity Building function of UKTRC is providing an exciting range of opportunities with the overall aims of:
Three core activities will be on-going over the coming years to meet these aims and these are open to a wide range of participants. First a subsidised Summer School is being run annually for PhD students and early career researchers which challenge and develop research thinking and skills. By bringing together students from across the UK and internationally the Summer School will support the creation of strong networks between the upcoming generation of multi-disciplinary researchers. The second core activity will emerge from the Summer School network which will create a Researcher Network to promote the exchange of ideas and methods on an on-going basis. The network will help to define the training needs which the UKTRC will provide. The third core function is the funding of up to 8 PhD studentships over the lifetime of the Centre. In the coming years the Research Capacity Building function will also be considering how to promote greater mobility across research disciplines and how to ensure that the methodological and theoretical advances made through UKTRC flow through into the development of new or enhanced teaching materials.
