Workshop 2 for the Scanning Exercise 1 was led by Professor Tanja Pless-Mulloli and her colleagues at the Institute of Health and Society, Newcastle University, which addresses major research questions in the areas of public health, primary care and health services research. The workshop was held over two days with speakers from academia, local government and NGOs and included a performance of a play specially commissioned for the event entitled Doors Opening, Doors Closing. - Extraordinary Lecture and Exhibition of Ideas: 17th January 2011, British Library Conference Centre, 96 Euston Road, London
The extraordinary lecture on 'climate change and everyday life: how the social sciences can help policy' presented and demonstrated new ways of thinking about behaviour change, routine and habit, with an exhibition illustrating the practical value of these ideas for climate change policy. The lecture was introduced by Professor Elizabeth Shove, Lancaster University and performed by members of the social-change climate-change working party. The lecture follows a one-day seminar to launch the British Sociological Association Climate Change Study group.
